Why creatives need someone in their corner

Most artists earn less than £5k a year from their creative work according to the “Livelihoods of Visual Artists” data report!

I know you don’t feel like your artistic talent is worthy of receiving a living wage. I know your self-worth and self-confidence stop you from putting yourself out there.

According to the “Livelihoods of Visual Artists” data report, artists earn an average of £16k a year. Only £6k of that comes from their art, with the other £10k from their day job.

I know what the problem is. It’s marketing. Yeah, I get it, it’s an icky word… but talent and skill will only get you so far. If the right people don’t know you exist, you’ll never beat those statistics. Let me de-ick the word a bit for you.

Marketing is nothing more than telling somebody what you do!

Your job is to find an audience, and that should be your #1 priority! There are countless ways to do that, and that’s what I help people master.

It’s no secret that the coaching industry is booming – that’s because people are beginning to realise they can learn new skills to get where they want to go, and paying someone with the experience you need is the best way to get there. But wait! Before you go throwing money down the drain on that shiny new mentor, you need to know a few things.

Coaching is an unregulated industry. That means it’s filled with people who don’t know what they’re talking about, but they’re happy to take money from people like us anyway. So many of the people I’ve worked with have burned thousands trying to learn the secret sauce to success…

There is no secret to success!

Nobody but you can make you rich! You have to put in the time, the effort, the work. It’s all on you.

Once you understand that, you’re in a better position to choose a mentor because you’ll pick up on their pitches. If they’re promising to make you a success, run for the hills!

I created a creative academy for women who faced that very problem… they’d already blown tons of cash chasing pipe-dreams and empty promises. It was making me sick to my core, so I had to step in. I invested £10k into learning the ins and outs of online marketing so I could help these women.

Over the course of two years, I designed and built a comprehensive online marketing academy specifically for creative women. No men, no smooth-brains or greys, just wacky females. I poured my entire life’s experience as a regional retail executive into it because I was tired of working on society’s treadmill of corporate grey! Do you know what I learned very quickly? Creative women are generally crap with technology. Myself included!

It was such a huge hurdle for a lot of us, so I set out to fix that issue. Now, everyone in the academy has direct access to a Fortune 500 grade Technical Architect & Software Engineer to assist in every technical aspect of their creative business. It may sound like overkill, but quality is important! He explains everything in plain English and encourages us to ask even the silliest of questions!
