Lessons, musings and advice from the author of ‘The Life I Won’
I have manifested everything in my life and business so far. Much of the time I didn’t even know I was doing it because I was brought up to think that I could, so I never doubted it. Once I discovered how to do it properly, I became really good at it and now I manifest everything I desire.
No, I don’t have a magic wand, a huge influential network or the luck of the Irish. I just became an expert at programming! Nope, not computers, I am a complete novice (that was the nice word).
What I do understand and always have is the power of thought. When ‘The Secret’ was first published in book form and then made into a movie, the whole world heard the phrase ‘thoughts become things’ and it started a movement so powerful that it would transform the self-development industry.
‘Imagination is everything – it is the preview of life’s coming attractions.’
Albert Einstein.
When I read the book and then watched the movie (several times) it just made sense to me. So, profoundly in fact that I wanted to know everything. I worked with a couple of the mentors from the movie and bought numerous books.
I spent months and then years exploring the possibilities and testing my own theories. What I discovered along the way were so many others who had watched the movie or read the book and struggled with the concept. There were those who understood it but then struggled to apply the action in their lives. Then there were those who borrowed the movie and never watched because they didn’t have time. It was like a metaphor for life made up of those in the know, somewhat in the know or clueless.
I realised that as much as I wanted to help others to understand how to manifest what they wanted, there was information overload and this causes confusion, not clarity.
What I do know is that you can do this.
You have the ability to manifest your dreams. You just need to convince your head and get it on the same page. So here is my two penneth and my hope is that it helps you, even just a little to not dismiss the power you have right now in your thoughts.
First and foremost you must be crystal clear about what it is you want. No wishy-washy stuff here, only absolute clarity. For example, you may want a flash new car. The detail you need here is vital. Which car do you want, what is the make, model, year, colour? What additions do you want as standard? Where will you keep it overnight? Who else will be allowed to drive it?
This is where your imagination is everything. What will it feel like when you drive that car out of the showroom? Run it in your head and put yourself in that space. What will the new car smell like? What will the seats feel like when you run your hands over them? What will the stereo sound like when you put your favourite tracks on full blast? Imagine touching the leather steering wheel for the very first time. Imagine driving along the motorway at speed or meandering along country lanes in your shiny new car with people glancing at you in admiration. Will you give your new car a name? Will you feel like a Queen or King as you pass your neighbours to park in your driveway? Will you polish it lovingly at the weekends whilst showing off a little?
Get playful and daydream, this helps to convince your brain that something is coming.
Take action to re-enforce the feelings and the desire for what you want. Go and test drive the car and leave your details with the showroom. Look at the financing options for the car and align it with your financial goals. Hire the car for a weekend and go on a trip to see how it runs and how it feels to own it. Display photos and pictures of your car on your vision board, on your fridge, behind the toilet door! See it everywhere you go.
There is a reason for doing this and it is to activate your ‘Reticular Activating System’ (RAS), or arousal and stimulation brain function. You are training your brain into noticing things for you that you may not have noticed otherwise. All of a sudden you will see your car everywhere you go, on the road, in showrooms, on advertising, in magazines. There has not been a change in the universe, just a change in your thoughts as you train them.
This is a NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) technique, which when used consistently will assist all of your other actions in convincing your brain that this new thing is a given. You job, is to act as if it is already yours. You are merely in a waiting period for the forces of nature to align, but when you believe with all of your being that you are worthy and it is coming to you, you unleash a positive power in yourself to make it happen. You may not even notice that you are doing it, but you are programming your subconscious to work for you. What can help you here are affirmations, written in the now with ‘I am’ statements. Repeated out loud, daily, affirmations are like the code for programming your brain.
E.G. ‘I am enjoying the drive to work in my new car every day’ ‘I love the feeling of driving my new car on the motorway’. You enjoy it because it is already yours, you love it because you already do it!
Yep, I am giving you permission to get obsessed and excited about this new thing. Why wouldn’t you? Annoy the world with your obsession. Talk about it to your family daily, in convincing them it is going to happen, it is easier to convince yourself. Ask your partner to say ‘goodnight and good morning new car owner’. Make the language of expectation in your close circle one of acceptance through your excitement.
You will soon find out it is infectious and fun.
Talk about your new car through your social media posts, at family gatherings, in fact everywhere that you get an opportunity. What I have found in the past is that when you tell people what you want or where you are going, you also activate their RAS and they spot opportunities that you may not. Like a competition in a magazine you don’t normally read to win the car you want picked up by someone who heard you talking about it.
This all sounds a bit woo-woo, but I have added some links to assure you that there is some science behind it all. I had a dream a couple of years ago that I was going to be a powerful force in the creative space, helping women to step into their creative power. Which is exactly what I do every day and I have even appeared in the Daily Mail telling my story.
Thoughts become things, but it is a process. But let me part by saying this, the process costs nothing but your time and effort, so why wouldn’t you? I am busy manifesting my way to buying a castle in Scotland, it’s all I talk about and so far I have had two people I don’t even know send me links in my messenger to castles. I am in process, so keep watching.
